I am a big fan of the One Piece series presented by Shonen Jump. Finding out that there was a One Piece game made for the PS3 already that I missed, made me want to jump on this immediately. Unfortunately for us in the West though, we don't get physical copies of the game. Everywhere else does, which is a bit of a let down. However, despite not having the game in my hands, this game blew me away and exceeded many of my expectations.

Not knowing what to expect from a One Piece video game, I was a bit skeptical yet open. As I started to play I was immediately reminded of series like Sengoku Basara, Samurai Warriors, Dynasty Warriors and the like. Here is the gameplay set-up: choose a character, beat down hordes of enemies, capture territory, and defeat the boss at the furthest point on the map. You also get rewarded based on how many enemies you kill, how fast you complete the stage, and how little damage you take. Also, within the stage you can find lots of health items, collectibles, and even special coins which can power-up specific characters between missions.

Like any Samurai Warriors-style game, there are a massive number of characters to choose from. I bet, hands down, that any fan of One Piece will find their favorite character to play as here. Not only that, but each character has their own side mission.

All this content is what really amazed me. I never would have expected a game like this to hold so much and I am very glad I was able to review this game. Even if I wasn't a fan of One Piece already, I can safely say I still would have loved Pirate Warriors 2.
