I hate to start this way, but Auto Club Revolution is nothing new. Before getting into the game, I wondered if there really was a way to improve upon the amazing racing games that are already available for consoles and PC. Playing this game made me realize that it is next to impossible, at least judging by the latest installments of race franchises such as Gran Turismo and Forza.
Auto Club Revolution brings cars from over forty-five manufacturers, which presents some replay value if you’re going to try each car. However, many of the tracks in the game are ones I've already seen in other games. The driving simulation, I felt, was particularly lacking, since bumping into other racers dealt no penalty to me at all.
It really seems that at this point in the racing genre, the only thing that can be done to make these games "fresh" and "new" is to include more tracks and more cars. So, unless you’re car enthusiast that’s been waiting for a very specific car to race on an obscure track, ACR doesn’t have that much to offer that isn’t out there already.
