Late adopters still ain't up on this cat, so I fully support this album gettin' re-released in the US. Live, K'naan ain't playin' either, so the bonus DVD here will drive the message home. Prepare to get bombarded with energetic, rhythmic and uplifting stories. The message of The Dusty Foot Philosopher is dope and it strays only briefly from classic in my opinion. The title track is a catchy tune that proves The Dusty Foot Philosopher came to claim his spot. His emotional appeal is candid and K bares all, "Living through poor conditions in a dignified manner...the true dusty foot philosophers have never been on a plane but they can tell you what is beyond the clouds." Hidden in every track is K'naan's contemporary sentiments and they hit "the now" on the head. The way he flips his perspective of today's emcees is revealatory. Listen to So What's Hardcore to see what I mean. Heartfelt cuts like My Old Home and I'm Struggling not only ring true, they radiate true. You feeling lost in a torrent of Down South samboing and jingle rap? K'naan can help.
