Studio: EA Games
Video game sequels can sometimes be a bit of a letdown. They're often just a quick money grab by studios looking to profit off a popular title. Holding onto the glory that goes with being the creative force behind a blockbuster title can also help motivate a second run for a title. With the Godfather II however, this isn't the case. Newly released by the kingpins over at Electronic Arts (EA), Godfather II is a film-based follow-up to the first installment in the series. The Godfather movie trilogy was based on a story by Mario Puzo and brought to life on screen by Francis Ford Coppola, the games are strikingly similar in tone and the newest edition features a storyline that stays true to the film's chronology. The game is basically a third-person RPG that lets you play as a character named Dominic, who is quickly climbing the ranks in the Cosa Nostra. You get to piece together your own crew of specialized thugs and attempt to take over various rackets around the city so that you can slowly gain control of different crime syndicates. Extorting different business owners is definitely a lot of fun, but be careful not to shake 'em up too hard or they won't be breathing long enough to hand over the keys to the business. As you gain territory and your posse gets deeper and more organized, you can kick back a bit and just rake in the profit. Don't start to get too comfortable though because rival gangs are always right around the next corner trying to take back what was once their's. If you didn't get a chance to play the first Godfather game, this new release is a must-have for Godfather fans...gamer or not. Get your white suit pressed, your 12 gauge locked and loaded, and don't forget to check the brake-lines on your whip before you head out to collect that paper.
