I am almost ashamed to say that this was my first live Maestro show. The man is a legend in Canada. Growing up you can't forget Drop The Needle and the only Canadian Gold Hip-Hop single Let Your Back Bone Slide really set the bar for aspiring Canadian artists. Ginger 62 was a cool venue to hold the affair and having Red-1 kick off the show was a nice touch. Last months Thick Index girl, violinist Suzka, was on hand as well. Her string stylings aided an older Maestro and really added life to the crowd. It was wild to see such a classical instrument crank out such sick Hip-Hop sounds. Sippin' champagne in the VIP, I even spotted an undercover K-OS on hand to take in the show. Intimate and chic, the only problem I had was that 'Stro was in a beautiful suit before he took the stage and ended up performing in an outfit that should have stayed in the nineties. The man himself has moved on to bigger things (you will probrably see him on cable TV before you hear him on The Beat) and I wish him the best. Happy 40th birthday Wes!
