Reporting live from New York City, Thick Magazine had the opportunity to view a live performance by Star Trak's new shining star Teyana Taylor. After hearing her song 'Google Me' on the radio a number of times the chance to catch her live was a no brainer.

As I was entering the club where Teyana was scheduled to showcase, I got the feeling that I was in for a treat. The place was packed from wall to wall with eager spectators waiting to see what the youngster had in store. The atmosphere was straight Hip-Hop as the female DJ on the wheels of steel cranked out nothing but the good ol' classic Hip-Hop gems. That definitely put me in the right mindstate to see Ms. Taylor rip the stage down.

As I stood amongst the crowd, staff of The Billion Boys Club constantly made their way back and forth which was a indication that the show was about to start. As the DJ cued up the music, Pharrell appeared on the monitor officially introducing his new talent to the people. And with Pharrell’s blessings, Teyana took the stage.

Seeing her for the first time I got the impression that she was definitely a star. She even appeared to be taller in her advertisements, but when the music started and she began letting
loose her words it was on for real.

She took the stage with her crew of dancers with outfits coordinated properly and worked the crowd. Projecting her voice loud and clear, she incorporated rhyming and singing as she flipped both elements throughout the show. Teyana’s dancers were in sync all the way and truly displayed routines that matched Teyana’s lyrics and style. The songstress kept strong eye contact with the crowd.

She pretty much had all of the entertainment elements intact which influenced the audience to respond with cheers and support. Teyana tastefully flowed through each song, and inbetween talked to the crowd, engaging them like a true performer should.

The production does justice to Teyana’s voice and they mesh well. This is real important in making great long lasting music. Her confidence also stood out as she paced back and forth establishing herself with the packed audience. She controlled the stage and mic while also leading the dance routines with her dancers. This is what you call being involved in all facets of the show.

Ms. Taylor is a breath of fresh air for the music industry. She’s actually skilled and ready to forge ahead. Unfortunately, in today’s music industry there is a lot of frauds and non-talented people in control. But once the world get a hold of Teyana Taylor, a new phenom will be taking over. Teyana is in her own lane and is surrounded by an experienced team.

Granting the people what they came to see, a great live show, is what Teyana provided tonight. And like a professional, she smoothly brought her show to a closure thanking supporters for their time.
