When a Canadian underground Hip-Hop vet comes to town you know the show will sell itself. But what if this show is only for a select few and announced only a couple of days in advance? The Myspace Secret Concert series brought one hell of a show to Sun Peaks (the ski hill dubbed "Little Whistler") Saturday night. 150 kids packed Masa's Bar & Grill to see the man they'd been listening to for well over a decade. This invite-only show was a good chance to get to experience three emcees who actually still care about the music. DJ IV spun some vintage early '90s Hip-Hop to set the tone even though some of the younger heads in the audience were oblivious. Chad Hatcher with guitar in tow opened the show and got a lukewarm reception from the all ages crowd. When Shad hit the stage he donned a guitar as well but soon threw it to the side and whipped the chosen few into a frenzy with his mix of upbeat and lyrically potent singles and equally blazing freestyles. This kid is on some next shit and I wouldn't be surprised if he's the next to blow out the Great White North. Classified is one of those emcees who people relate to because he is on their level with his music and from his vantage point he was basically looking into a mirror. The lanky Luke Boyd spoke one word and the spot erupted as Classified and crew went through the classics all the way up to his most recent work with freestyles peppered in between. Everyone on stage was having the time of their lives and nothing was cut back for this special show. They even did a couple covers and at one point brought a fan on stage to see if he could beat his boy in a beer chugging contest. The rabid few that scored a golden ticket witnessed a show that they won't soon forget.
