DJ Shadow in Vancouver, BC

Last Tuesday turntablist legend DJ Shadow beamed down to Vancouver in his trademark bubble to reign breakbeat terror on the young and entranced minds. What about the bubble though? This is 2012 and the thing reminds me of an era when Will Ferrell is spinning in circles and singing Christmas carols on SNL. Ravercore audiences these days are spoiled with insane 3D stage projection mapping (Pagoda and Living Room) and Hip-Hop fans now have the Obi-Wan style performance by the biggest rap god the Mayan calendar could have ever predicted (don’t "what" me). Shadow should stray away from the drum ’n bass and dub influences as no one really wants to get that out of his show. His classic and world-renowned material consists of the funky, true school ideals of DJing. Why not invite any one of those countless emcees in the rolodex for a tour? Not to mention that, I think some of us were disappointed by the early finale. He probably wanted to catch some Conan before getting into his bubble bed.
