Tired of reading all the miserable dribble that's being released by the big comic companies? Well, sometimes you've just got to search out an alternative like Boom! Studios' new title Swordsmith Assassin. This comic hasn't even hit store shelves yet but we got blessed with the advanced preview of the first issue. Obviously you can tell from the title that the story is about a swordsmith turned assassin. Toshiro Ono didn't honour his fathers tradition of only selling blades to respectable samurai; he decided to sell to the highest bidders. That is the basis of the story but I don't want to spoil anything else. What I will tell you is that this might be the best new comic I've read all year. Maybe it's because I'm partial to martial arts related stories, but still, the quality is undeniable. The story by Andrew Cosby and art by Ayhan Hayrula are both top tier. Make room in your collection for this new classic.
