Big things are brewing over at the BPRD. Big things like giant underground mechanical behemoths and prophecies just aching to be fulfilled, and the only force trying to stop them is a little team made up of our favorite freaks and paranormal investigators. Unlike some of the newer Hellboy miniseries, Mignola seems to have a firm hand on the rudder where BPRD is concerned. There is no doubt less pressure when writing a BPRD book and you can feel how much more fun is put into every page. If we were to be critical for a moment, it could be pointed out that the building story in BPRD is becoming so epic that it’s misleading to keep publishing each six issues as a miniseries. Events are now transpiring that connect back to Volume 3, and if you haven’t read Volume 8, you probably won’t understand a good chunk of the story here. Of course we let Mike and his friends get away with it because we’re so hungry for any books that are this fucking good!
