Cable escapes into the future at the end of Messiah Complex with the Messiah child, believing her to be the savior of the mutant race. He will do everything in his power to protect her and he’ll have to. Right behind him is Lucas Bishop. Armed with a new mechanical arm and a dogged determination to put down the child who he believes will create the hellish future he grew up in. Stranded in an alternate future and battling to the death, Cable’s new book is off to a wicked start.

While many books that deal with time travel and alternate realities can be confusing or boring, writer Swierczynski and artist Olivetti have constructed a fast paced and entertaining page-turner who's art and plot strike a great and gritty balance between Mad Max and the Terminator films. Despite the relatively stupid looking pin-ups that have been pushing the series showing Cable holding a baby strapped to his chest, the book has great beats and cinematic moments. This is a good jumping on point for new readers. Everything you need to know is explained quickly and then builds off of the current dilemmas.
