Publisher: Boom Studios

Bringing forth more of the Cthulu mythos, Boom Studios has resurrected a story by H.P. Lovecraft and instead of adapting it into comic form, they’ve simply added pictures to his original, unedited text. It’s always nice to see something different in the medium that breaks the monotony of standard cape and cowl books. This goes even further.

Each page on the lefthand side is prose while Chuck BB runs free on the opposite page. My only criticism for the book would have to be Chuck. I'm not meaning to take anything away from the art in any way. When pouring over pages of Lovecraft, I’m just more likely to imagine Mike Ploog’s art, Bernie Wrightson or even a Mike Mignola. BB’s art strikes me as more like Samurai Jack and while that could also be a breath of fresh air, it doesn’t feel like a good fit. The art on its own is beautiful and many Lovecraft fans will be sorry they missed this cool printing.
