If you're a fan of Firefly and Serenity, then you know there just simply isn't enough of it. There have been only three other comic book mini series that have come out and every dyed-in-the-wool Firefly fan has them and was slightly disappointed. They weren't bad, but they didn't give us what we wanted. Not really. Better Days tells a story that takes place during the TV series era before certain characters died. It functions like an episode and is nice for that, but we wanted a continuation. Those Left Behind was a eulogy in effect for the characters who survived the end of the movie. Again, nice effort but it was just sad and really an epilogue of sorts. More depressing that it felt like an end when we wanted a new chapter. Shepherd's Tale could have been the revelation of Shepard's secret past we're all dying to know but again didn't quite get. It certainly gives us the cliff's notes but it didn't quite unveil his mystery with the majesty it felt like he'd have had if the series had continued. So we demanded more Firefly!

Well, here it is people! This first issue of Leaves On The Wind has so much promise and satisfaction printed on it's twenty-some-odd pages. I was so goram happy I could (insert Chinese swear words here). Characters have already grown and while we're still dealing with the events of the film, we're jumping right into the action and it feels right. Everything about this book feels right. Zach Whedon has the voices and the direction. In fact, the only problem really with this series is that its run ends at six issues. But that's okay. You know why? Because we're Firefly fans and we'll demand more;)
