Who's really making the money off of weed?
Tuesday, April 17, 2007

The federal government is making a fat profit selling certified medical marijuana to qualified patients. Documents obtained under the Access to Information Act show Health Canada pays $328.75 a kilogram, but sells it for $5000. That's a markup of more than 1500%. Critics say it's unconscionable to charge that high a markup to some of the country's sickest citizens, who have little income.
