In this music business, throughout the years, we have seen many changes. Changes that have definitely effected the culture of Hip-Hop. But through it all remained one of the culture's smoothest legends to put pen to paper. He blessed the world with classics like They Reminisce Over You, Down With The King with Run-DMC and albums such as The Main Ingredient, Mecca & The Soul Brother and now his new opus American Me. Conversing with CL Smooth aka The Mecca Don was truly Hip-Hop in its purest form. CL Smooth speaks truth and his new album is definitely a reflection of that. I can honestly say that CL Smooth is one of the realest artists that I have crossed paths with.

Thick: CL Smooth, it’s an honour to meet you. So, what’s been up with you?
CL Smooth: Everything is good, man. I got this new album coming out September 19th, American Me. My first independent project, it’s on Black Hearts/Shaman Works. I think it’s one of my greatest projects yet. I got some real diverse stuff on the album. Call On Me where I’m showing you how I loose everything and get it back. We got some stuff on there with jazz, rock, soul, street orientation. So, it’s like a real nice catalog of CL Smooth at his best right now. Everything is times ten. When you listen to CL Smooth on an album from the 90s, now it’s CL Smooth times ten.
